Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order cards?
Yes, we'd love to make cards for you! We do not profit from these cards since we use copyrighted images for most, if not all of the cards. We only ask for material/shipping costs and a little for our time and effort, because these do take time to design and print. Our current pricing breakdown is as follows (all prices include shipping):
1: $5/Per
2-20: $3/Per
21-49: $2/Per
50+: $1.50/Per
**WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPLORING IDEAS WHICH WOULD DRASTICALLY LOWER THESE COSTS**
Can I request a certain card be made?
Yes!
This guy's stats seem wrong...
All the stats are done matching the outcome chances of the cards to their real life stats. For example, if a player has a .370 OBP one year, he will most likely be an 11 on-base card with a 7 walk. We try to prioritize accurate HR and D percentages, so the card's OBP might range .010 to accommodate more accurate extra base hit percentages. This was done in the actual game as well.
For hitters, we use the average showdown pitchers stats to calculate their stats. For pitchers, we look at their batting against stats (can be found on baseball reference)
Speed is a bit tricky. You can't just base it on CS% (some guys go 3-0), but you can't just base it on how many stolen bases they have as it doesn't show their true stolen base ability. So, early on we base speed on how many stolen bases a guy has, then for guys with a lot of attempts we base it on CS%. Yes, this is why Billy Hamilton is only speed 20 (he had 23 CS).
However we are still open to suggestions. This is just something we've done for fun on the side for a while and the process has been refined over time.
There is a mistake on one of the cards
Yeah there are some I even know about I'll try getting around to them. But please let me know if you spot any that we haven't fixed!
Why no icons?
Icons are one of the only things we didn't really like about the game. They alter a players stats dramatically to the point where it is unrealistic. Let's look at the HR icon for example:
First lets look at the Babe without an icon. At 15 OB and 18 HR, he will hit home runs about 8.6% of the time. At the height of his career (for HOF we average their best years), he hit home runs about 8%. Just a tiny bit off, nothing can really be done about that.
Now the Babe with an icon. By converting his first double to a home run, he will hit home runs close to 14% of the time. Over a season that's close to 100 home runs.
We might consider icons in the future but for now they just seem to make the game unrealistic.
What's under the "Special Tab"?
Boom or Bust: Just a series we are doing for fun where we find guys who had a ton of home runs but extremely low OBP.
All Star: Stats of players at the break that made the all star game. Current series is from the 2015 All Star Game.
October Legends: Mini-series of guys who had great postseason careers.
What do the backs of the cards look like?
Here is the custom backing we've made for our cards.
